New research on the power of storytelling in science education!
We just published a new study on one of our most popular SCL films, The Most Beautiful Experiment — which brings Meselson and Stahl’s legendary DNA replication experiment to life through humor, archival footage, and heartfelt storytelling.
When we tested it against two other videos covering the *exact same science content* (an animation and a lecture), the documentary consistently came out on top for effective outcomes:
✅ Students felt more connected to science
✅ They related more to the scientists
✅ Their attitudes toward biology improved
… and knowledge gains stayed the same across all three videos.
In other words: personal storytelling doesn’t sacrifice learning — it enhances it.
